A Big Thank You, Aransas County
November 14th, 2008Over 68% of our registered voters cast their ballots on November 4th.
That is an unprecedented number. I just wanted to take a few minutes to say Thank You Aransas County! Elections are a lot of hard work and cannot be done by only a few. All of the wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly at our headquarters on the phone banks calling registered voters to get out the vote and helping people who came in are to be applauded.
Our executive committee worked tirelessly. We block walked in each precinct, knocked on a lot of doors for our candidates as did our candidates themselves. Todd Hunter, Richard Bianchi, Caroline Bertuzzi and Merlin Hartdegen walked and talked to people week after week.
A special thanks goes to Peggy Friebele, County Clerk, Joy Dias, Voter Registrar, Melinda Cobb and others who spent tireless hours to make this election run smoothly and efficiently.
But, I would be remiss to not mention Richard Bianchi, Candidate for County Attorney, Charlie Smith, Commissioner Precinct 3, Howard Murph, Commissioner Precinct 4-4A, Merlin Hartdegen, Navigation District Commissioner Precinct 1-1A, John Irvin, Precinct Chair 1-A, Debbie Williams, Chair Precinct 1, Lamar Story, Chair Precinct 2, Jim Mixon, Chair Precinct 3, John Joslin, Chair Precinct 4 and Corrie Williams, Chair Precinct 4-A, Vice Chair Donn Shull, past County Chair Verna Yeamans all helped immensely. We have the best team in politics. Fellow republicans you should be proud of them.
I have one other person who deserves special recognition and that is our 88 years young Mim McNeil, who give us untold hours of her time and expertise at headquarters as well as being our Presiding Judge at Central Counting. She is a long time resident of Rockport and was influential in getting me involved in politics in Aransas County.
Many didn’t get mentioned….but, they know how much they are appreciated. Thanks again……all of you.
